They've been skiing for about six years and decided this year they wanted to snowboard. Kyler is in the green coat in the middle of the screen and Cade is in the orange. Moto Monday was pretty fun. Brandon's shovel is awesome! Love the exhaust pipes! Also really diggin' Zach's Chevy. It was kind of a weird night. It was great to get the bike out and ride. The weather here has been pretty warm lately. Afterwards though, the pigs nailed us. It really put a damper on the night to say the least.

Funeral is today. He crashed on Sunday in Malaysia. He slipped off his bike a bit, went down, but looked almost like he was caught up on his bike when he shot back across the track. Edwards and Rossi collided with him pretty hard. There's a pretty good article about him in last months Bike UK mag. It talks about his 'old school' crazy riding style and how he learned a lot from Rossi. Worth picking up if you can find it.

Went on a spur of the moment ride up to Smith and Morehouse reservoir and through the Uinta's on Sunday. Great time! We mostly rode where it wasn't raining and just so happened to stay dry. If my bike was a little more capable of off-roading I think we could've had an even better time. I'll admit it, I was a tad jealous of my roomate's GS up there.

Pretty mellow Moto Monday this month. Went on a little cruise afterwards. Got up to about Centerville and Matt was having some bike issues on his new Honda (I don't know why I didn't get a pic - such a cool bike). Ended up taking 89 all the way back. It was actually pretty nice. The weather was perfect!

Took me awhile, but finally found some time to finish the tank I started a year ago. It's definitely not perfect, but I think it turned out pretty good for my first tank. It started as a stock sporty tank. Then I narrowed it about 1 1/2" to 2", hammer formed the bottom, cut and bent the tunnel to fit a newer rubber mount frame and welded it up. Had it pressure tested, then just spray bombed it like an old rat rod or something. What do ya think?

A week or so ago my buddy Scott sold his bike. We had an opportunity to take it out on one last ride. We checked the radar and it was raining all over the place. It looked like we had a clear shot out to Antelope Island, a rarely visited island out in the Great Salt Lake full of free roaming buffalo and antelope, so we took it. Miraculously we stayed dry the whole ride. It was such an awesome ride. Once we got out to the island it looked as if we were in a different country. If you've never been out there, you've been missing out. Here are a few phone shots of Buffalo Point.

I thought I'd take the scenic route home since I had the time. Zion National Park. If you're ever somewhat close to this it's worth the extra time to ride through it. It was amazing. Definitely the highlight of the trip. I was rolling solo the ride home, so I had to at least get the bike in the shots.

The little cave right above the seat/tank is actually a window cut out for the tunnel that goes through that whole side of the cliff.

My dad and I talked about making a trip out here just to ride through this tunnel a couple years back. Sorry you missed out Dad! I had to make up for the trip though. This was the only way!

NOT BORN FREE 3 - PART 2

So I bought a new battery thinking it just wasn't getting a good charge. That didn't work, so I started thinking it could've been the electrical somewhere. Switched out the coil, the plugs, changed the gas, checked the petcock, messed around with the air/fuel mixture on the carb. Ran it rich, then lean, still nothing. Checked the crank position sensor. Then I figured it had to be the ignition control module and that was throwing off the timing. Of course no one in town had one in stock, so I would have to wait until Monday to try and overnight one. Just kicked around by the pool and decided to get some sun and relaxation since there wasn't much else to do but wait. Monday morning I had a thought that maybe I just wasn't getting a good connection on the on/off toggle. So I pulled it out, wired everything together, and to my amazement, no more backfiring! A simple little $3 toggle kept me from Born Free. What a bummer!

NOT BORN FREE 3 - PART 1

I got the bike together with the help of Scott, Trent, and my Dad. Thanks guys! We left for St. George around 9:30PM on Thursday and had no problems whatsoever all the way down. I did happen to hit a rabbit. Didn't even really feel it. Some of the bumps in the road were much worse, especially up by American Fork. Went to the cemetary in the morning to visit Scott's son's Styles' gravesite. The bike started to backfire every so often that morning. We met up with the BOLTS crew cause they had a few bikes down getting new batteries put in. Waited around awhile and decided to get on the road. The bike started to backfire more - I figured it was running a little rich, cause we were going down in elevation. It just got worse. Just a few hours later I could no longer ride my bike. Pulled over and had a friend in Vegas come get me to start diagnosing the problem. Here's a few pics from that day.

Leaving in 1 week from today. Still have to finish up the tank, seat, and wiring. Then I have to put the rest back together. Can't wait for this to be done! Sprocket cover turned out rad. It's just a quick drill job before I finish fabbing up the new one. Hubs never made it, so I'll be rolling with the stock wheels. Probably gonna hold off on the scrambler conversion until winter, seeing as how it's half way through June and everything's on back order.

I have about a month to finish the bike and the machine that's building my rear hub is 'broken' somehow. It's been about a week since I've heard any updates. I might be rolling up to born free on a gay 16" mag wheel. Oh well, at least I'll be there. Anyways, here's a cool vid from CYCLE ZOMBIES.

Finally making a little progress on the 1200R. Going for a scrambler look on this one - thanks to WRENCHMONKEES and TPR for inspiration. 16" Rear shocks, 18" wire wheels, beefy enduro tires, and some high pipes. Found an old XS650 tank on ebay for practially nothing. A little rust, but overall in great shape. Polished a bunch of parts, shaved down the ginormous brake pedal, and took the shine out of everything with a scotch brite pad.

I was watching the new Indiana Jones last night and I noticed the Harley was a modern six speed softail, with fuel injection even. I don't get it. Why would George use a new bike? It's really not that hard to get a hold of an old pan or a knuckle. That's just lame. They even bolted a kick starter onto the frame. After watching that movie though, I realized how crappy it was. It seemed they really didn't put that much effort into it. Too bad.

Flew out to Kansas for a few days. Sometimes it's nice to get out of the city and head to the country. Rode around my Dads xs650. Super fun bike. Love the hand shift, and those new shocks under the seat are surprisingly comfortable.
